Plantago Planting provides low-cost ecological landscaping interventions for folks who need help in their yards, whether they want a rain-sequestering food forest bioswale or just need the place cleared out and don’t want to kill the bees.
My specialties:

Jules Crane Vance is a Chicago-based grower, landscaper, forager, musician, community cook, aspiring herbalist, and recovered pre-law student. 2026 is their sixth season of learning how to work with people and the ecosystem to make our yards a flourishing home for all.
Their training includes, but is not limited to, permaculture, organic farming, goat husbandry, urban farming, food forests, ecological conservation with the Forest Preserves of Cook County, urban foraging, and native gardening.
